The wedding of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry in Windsor yesterday turned out to be a special one for Stella McCartney, too.

The designer created the bride's showstopping second gown, as well as a vibrant yellow dress for Amal Clooney and a pale pink number for Oprah Winfrey. The latter was turned around in just 24 hours after Oprah discovered that the outfit she had planned to wear was too pale.

And it turns out McCartney had one more important commission for the royal wedding: an evening dress for the bride's mother, Doria Ragland.

While there are no photos from the private evening reception for 200 guests at Frogmore House, the dress is reported to have been beautiful.

According to WWD, "Ragland wore a scarlet long-sleeved dress in silk cady, nude alter suede sandals and a brass gold box clutch."

Speaking about the commissions with the site, McCartney said: "It has truly been one of the most humbling moments of my career and I am so proud of all the team on this stunning sunny royal day."

Ragland, 61, has been winning praise on social media for her outfits for the royal wedding. For the ceremony she wore a custom dress and pistachio-colored day coat designed by creative directors of Oscar de la Renta, Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim. Her shoes were Aquazzura, and her hat was designed by milliner Stephen Jones.

Notably, by wearing an American brand for the ceremony and a British brand for the reception, she was representing talent from her and her daughter's native US, as well as her daughter's new home of the UK.
