Taraji P. Henson is engaged to NFL star Kelvin Hayden, after quietly dating for two years. The Empire actress made the announcement on Instagram this morning with a photo of her sizable engagement ring (and some delicious desserts).
"I said yes y’all!!!" she wrote in the caption. Henson, 47, noted that Hayden, 34, first gifted her with a Cartier love bracelet as a Mother's Day gift before popping the question. The actress is currently a mom to her 24-year-old son, Marcel Jordan.
"He started with the Cartier love bracelet BUT that was my #Mothersday gift and then he dropped to his knee and I almost passed out!!! 😩😩😂😂😂#sheisofficiallyoffthemarket and she is sooooooooooooo HAPPY!!!!!! #GODIS 💍💋💋💋," Henson added.
Henson and Hayden have kept their relationship on the down-low for nearly two years. It was only in December 2017 that the actress publicly addressed their relationship for the first time.
"I'm very happy. Everything is coming together. I'm happy in my personal life," she revealed in an interview on Essence's podcast "Yes, Girl!"
"I'm not the type to blast my personal business. But, you know, I think that's important for people to know. I'm happy. I'm very very happy. I just am," Henson continued. "And you know, we've been together for two years. No one would really know that because I don't really blast my info like that. But I'm very happy."
Henson and Hayden first sparked dating rumors in 2015 when they were spotted holding hands on the beach in Miami, E! reports. Congratulations to the happy couple!
