A new Lady Gaga era is here. The first song off her much-anticipated #LG6 album, "Stupid Love," was officially released today alongside a colorful desert-themed music video. It marks the first new music video Gaga has released since the launch of her makeup line Haus Labs, so naturally the beauty look is next-level gorgeous. The musician tapped her longtime makeup artist and collaborator Sarah Tanno to create the "really colorful, really dynamic, and very new," makeup look. "I've never really used a ton really bright poppy colors," she says.

“When I was trying to come up with this first look for Gaga’s new music video, I pulled references and was inspired by the music. An important question I always ask Gaga is, how do you want to feel? She wanted to feel strong. She wanted to exude a 'Kindness Punk', someone who fights for kindness and leads with love.”

If you've scrolled through Gaga's Instagram recently, you've likely noticed her newfound obsession with all things pink. It started with her hair, then the launch of the Haus Labs lip crayon in Hot Rod. The makeup for Gaga's pink tribe in "Stupid Love" was inspired by her hair color and lipstick, but it's the glue-on "kindness armor" Tanno created with the help of Face Lace's Phyllis Cohen that makes the look quintessentially Gaga.

“I came up with this idea to create her "Kindness Armor"—something she could put on to empower self-love, self-acceptance, and kindness to both herself and others, which is also the ethos of Haus Laboratories,“ says Tanno.

The makeup artist is always trying to push the boundaries with Gaga’s makeup, blurring the line between art and beauty. "In the Born This Way era she had these cheek prosthetics—so I thought, what is the new special thing that I can make for her? This armor naturally will come in different shades of metallic pink," says Tanno. "I wanted the pieces to move with her face when she sings and dances. That's why I couldn't make it out of real metal. It's more like a prosthetic because you do have to adhere it."

Expect to see a lot more of the "kindness armor" pieces on Gaga throughout her promotion for "Stupid Love" and #LG6.
"Once we start something we kind of stay there and build off it," notes the makeup artist.

The music video was filmed out in the desert, where even the best long-wear lipsticks would likely fail and smear after a few hours. But not Gaga's. Tanno herself was even floored by how little she needed to touch-up the Haus Labs Le Monster Matte Lip Crayon. "What was amazing for me as an artist who is use to working on sets like this is that I didn’t need to touch-up Hot Rod throughout the day. That lip stays on," remarks Tanno. "That's something I rely on and something that's really important for me. When she's doing high intensity dancing and she really, really goes for it, it’s amazing to not have to run in between every take and not have to touch her up and bother her when she's in the zone."

The same goes for the groundbreaking Haus Labs liquid eyeliner. “I also wanted to create a dynamic bright wing with a sharpened and defined eyeliner in my all-time favorite Liquid Eye-Lie-Ner in Punk,” she notes. “It's a flexible felt tip that I used to draw and create all the artistry looks for Gaga and her dancers.”

Every dancer in the video was wearing Haus Labs makeup, but don't expect the brand to release Gaga's "kindness armor" anytime soon. "We just want you to do your own version of the makeup. One of my favorite parts of creating this new era is that I love to see what the fans come up with," says Tanno. "That is such a rewarding part of my job to see how far it spreads." Little Monsters: Once you've bought the products from Haus Labs, head to your nearest art store. You have some crafting to do.
