The seventh season of American Horror Story is set to be the most genuinely disturbing and traumatic yet, focusing on the 2016 presidential election.

"I don't have a title, but the season that we begin shooting in June is going to be about the election that we just went through," creator Ryan Murphy revealed on Watch What Happens Live yesterday. "I think that will be interesting for a lot of people." Will real-life American monster Donald Trump be a character? "Maybe."

So given that last part, it's unclear whether this season will focus on the actual 2016 election as it took place in real life, or on a fictional election with clear parallels to the Trump-Hillary fight. AHS regulars Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters are already confirmed to return, meaning that Paulson could theoretically play Hillary Clinton in two different Murphy projects – she's also attached to the fourth season ofAmerican Crime Story, focusing on the Monica Lewinsky scandal.
